Love Begins Within: The “L” in the GLIMPSE Method

“You don’t have to be perfect to love yourself. You just have to be willing to see yourself with a

little more compassion.”

Last week, we explored the G in the GLIMPSE Method: Grounding—the foundation for

everything else. Before we can truly change our lives, we have to become present enough to

notice them. Today, we’re moving into the L: Love.

When I say love, I’m talking about more than self-love. I’m talking about loving yourself, loving

other people, practicing gratitude, setting healthy boundaries, and learning to appreciate the

life you’re already living.

These ideas are deeply connected. In fact, gratitude may be one of the simplest pathways into

love.

Self-Love Isn’t Selfish

Let’s be honest—”love yourself” has become one of those phrases we hear all the time.

Sometimes it even feels cliché. I don’t necessarily believe you have to completely love yourself before you can love someone else. What I do believe is this: the more love you allow yourself to receive from yourself, the more love you’re able to give away. Learning to love yourself isn’t about becoming perfect. It’s about becoming more accepting.

What If the Thing You Dislike About Yourself Isn’t Actually Bad?

Our minds are constantly trying to protect us. The stories they tell us are often based on old

experiences and perceptions—not objective truth. Asking, “What is my mind trying to protect

me from?” creates compassion instead of criticism.

Appreciation Is the Gateway to Self-Love

If loving yourself feels difficult, start with appreciation. Celebrate your strengths, your growth,

your relationships, and your resilience. It’s nearly impossible to feel appreciation and lack at the

same time.

Question Your Thoughts

Your thoughts are seeds. Are you planting flowers or weeds? Pause before believing every

thought. Ask: Is this true? Where did it come from? Is it helping me become who I want to be?

Love Also Looks Like Boundaries

Healthy boundaries aren’t selfish—they’re loving. They protect your peace while allowing

healthier relationships to grow.

Small Daily Rituals Are Acts of Self-Love

Morning affirmations, quiet coffee, evening tea, putting your phone away, and creating

moments of stillness are simple ways to remind yourself that you matter.

Try an Appreciation Rampage

Spend two minutes writing down everything you’re grateful for. Keep going until you notice your mood shift. Gratitude changes what you notice, and what you notice becomes your experience.

Speak to Yourself Like Someone You Love Replace harsh self-talk with grace. Mistakes are evidence that you’re learning, not that you’re failing.

Love Makes Life Lighter

The L in the GLIMPSE Method invites us to love ourselves, love others, practice gratitude,

question limiting thoughts, and protect our peace. Every act of kindness toward yourself ripples

outward into the world.

Reflection Questions

What is one quality about yourself you genuinely appreciate?

What thought have you been believing that deserves to be questioned?

Where could a healthy boundary create more peace in your life?

What are ten things you can appreciate right now?
