As we mark the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, a quarter-century has passed since that fateful morning when our nation changed forever. For my generation, 9/11 was our Pearl Harbor. It remains seared into our collective memory, not only as a national tragedy, but for many of us across Minnesota, as a deeply personal loss.

Self-love can sound a little cliche. "You have to love yourself before you can love anyone else."

I'm not sure I believe that statement exactly as it's usually said. Of course you can deeply love your

children, your partner, your family and your friends even when you're struggling to love yourself.

 The City of Wayzata and the Wayzata Fire Department are pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin Klapprich as Wayzata’s first full-time Fire Chief, effective June 29, 2026. Chief Klapprich has served on the Wayzata Fire Department since 1978 and has been the Fire Chief since 2006. Adam Fleischacker was nominated by a North Woods family for his positive impact on their son. Their student lives with significant disabilities, but Adam refuses to let him sit on the sidelines. Whether it’s holding the student securely so he can bounce in a bouncy house or helping him steer a scooter board, Adam provides the physical support the student needs to play right alongside his classmates.
